Thrive
The Thrive Approach reflects our unwavering commitment to the emotional wellbeing and development of every child in our care.
We understand that children's ability to learn and thrive is deeply connected to their emotional and social wellbeing. The Thrive Approach provides us with a powerful framework to support children in developing the emotional resilience and social skills they need to navigate life's challenges and succeed both in and out of the classroom.
What is the Thrive Approach?
The Thrive Approach is a dynamic and evidence-based way of working with children that supports their optimal social and emotional development. It's built on a deep understanding of brain development and how early life experiences can impact a child's ability to learn and relate to others.
Thrive practitioners use a range of strategies and activities to help children:
- Build strong and positive relationships: By fostering secure attachments and promoting healthy social interactions.
- Develop emotional regulation skills: Helping children understand and manage their feelings.
- Enhance self-esteem and confidence: Empowering children to believe in themselves and their abilities.
- Improve their capacity for learning: Creating a safe and supportive learning environment where children feel emotionally secure.
Why are we implementing Thrive?
We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to flourish. By implementing the Thrive Approach, we are:
- Proactively supporting children's emotional wellbeing: Creating a nurturing and supportive school environment where children feel safe and understood.
- Addressing individual needs: Providing targeted support for children who may be experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties.
- Building resilience: Equipping children with the emotional tools they need to cope with challenges and bounce back from setbacks.
- Creating a foundation for learning: Recognising that children learn best when they feel emotionally secure and connected.
Our Commitment to Thrive:
We are proud to have a growing team of Thrive Licensed Practitioners across our schools. Currently, we have nine trained practitioners, and we are further investing in our staff with a new cohort currently being trained by a Licensed Thrive Trainer, based at Shipston Primary School. This demonstrates our commitment to embedding Thrive principles into our everyday practice.
You may see Thrive being used in a variety of ways at school, including:
- Whole-class activities to promote emotional literacy.
- Small group interventions to support children with specific needs.
- Individual sessions to provide one-on-one support.
- A whole school approach to create a nurturing enviroment.
We are confident that the Thrive Approach will have a positive and lasting impact on our children's lives. We are committed to working in partnership with parents and carers to support your child's emotional wellbeing and ensure they reach their full potential.
